River Academy recognised as a national top-10 school for valuing student voice

We are delighted to share that River Academy has been recognised in Edurio’s National Listening & Acting Awards, ranking among the top 10 schools nationally for student feedback.

The award is based on survey responses from 639 schools across England and focuses on how strongly students feel their opinions are valued and acted upon in school.

The National Listening & Acting Awards recognise schools that do more than collect feedback. They highlight places where listening is part of everyday practice, communication is clear, and change is visible.

Ernest Jenavs, CEO and Co-founder of Edurio, said:

“Listening and acting on feedback is a cultural shift. When schools embed listening, they build stronger relationships with stakeholders, make better decisions and develop long-term resilience.”

Andy Hartley, Headteacher of River Academy, said:

“Listening to students is about respect. When young people feel heard, they engage more confidently with school life and with each other. This award reflects the way our students and staff work together through honest conversations and shared responsibility.”

This recognition reflects the consistent work taking place at River Academy to ensure students feel heard, respected and involved in shaping their school experience, supported by colleagues across our Trust.
